# definitely
but get the subtitled version!

# ^this
With every fibre of my being.

Subtitled films kick arse.

# it's like a BOOK and a FILM at the same time.
bonus.

# but you miss so much while you're reading

# Precisely!
It probably helps that my dad is deaf and I have grown up with subtitles on the telly, so I'm mega used to reading them quickly and still paying attention to what's going on. However, I am suuuure that having films in the original language makes them miiiles better.

# *high five*
So what are your kinda top foreign films and stuff, if you have any?
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 23:11, archived)
# *fives back*
Most miyazaki stuff, Oldboy, Paprika, Battle Royale, City Of God, Letters From Iwo Jima.

These are all amazing films. You?

# letters from iwo jime hardly counts as foreign. it was directed by clint eastwood
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 23:20, archived)
# It was subbed though.

# Oldboy for the epic win.
One of my favourite films ever.

I lovelovelove Pan's Labyrinth.

Still a huge fan of Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon too...

Letters from Iwo Jima was really good but it kinda narked me that it's an American Film, just feels weird.
Have you seen Brotherhood, by any chance?
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 23:20, archived)
# Yeh forgot to mention
Pans Lab and The Orphanage!!! Sry.

Yeh CrouchTiger/FlyingDaggers/Hero all good too.

Not seen brotherhood, I will now though. :)
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 23:23, archived)
# Brotherhood's properly good
All the Korean films I've seen have been stunning. Sort of weird, in some cases, but a treat for the old noodle nonetheless.

The Host is one of the crazy ones... I'm sure it makes more sense if you're actually Korean.

# i have no money at all at the moment.
i take the view that if someone genuinely cannot afford to pay to see or hear someones art then they should be allowed to see it free. i buy stuff when i can afford it and art is created to be witnessed. if it was me making a film i'd rather have people see my creation than get paid for it.

# Excellent point.
Plus, it makes you a Pirate and that's fun :)
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 23:09, archived)
# hmm
whilst i understand where you are coming from, i mostly* disagree

*'mostly' because i do indulge in piracy on occasion myself
(, Sun 29 Jun 2008, 23:11, archived)
# its also woth considering that those involved in the actual manufacturering of the movies (the actors, writers and directors)
have normally already been paid before the film is shown in cinemas so the only people losing any money are the big corporations who i have no love for at all
