I think your mates need to come back down to earth
I think we are reacting so because of how completely out of proportion your mates are taking this. Are they planning to screen it at Cannes or something? Come on, they are at university and can't make a film with five grand?
I also don't recall such lavish budgets being the requirement or expected of any university project.
