This is a question Banks

Your Ginger Fuhrer froths, "I hate my bank. Not because of debt or anything but because I hate being sold to - possibly pathologically so - and everytime I speak to them they try and sell me services. Gold cards, isas, insurance, you know the crap. It drives me insane. I ALREADY BANK WITH YOU. STOP IT. YOU MAKE ME FRIGHTED TO DO MY NORMAL BANKING. I'm angry even thinking about them."

So, tell us your banking stories of woe.

No doubt at least one of you has shagged in the vault, shat on a counter or thrown up in a cash machine. Or something

Really Boring Post Warning
I suppose i'm somewhat breakijng from tradition in making a post that is in no way amusing, in intent or effect.

Having read all these posts about various big name banks being total fucking unhelpful bastards, i really have to say it:
Join the Co-op!

OK so there are very few branches, but when the online banking/telephone banking works like a charm, with helpful staff in English call centres, why do you ever really need to go in in person?

And they have an ethical policy too.

I am with Smile
Which is the online arm of the Co-Op. There is a branch in my town but I can also pay in at the post office.

They are super fab and I haven't missed having a branch in 8 years.

Oh, and I forgot to say
that they have never, ever, ever sent me a letter.
Of any kind.

They wouldn't let my mum join
My mum for many years was with RBS because when she spent a certain amount, a small percentage of that would go to the Woodland Trust. The Woodland Trust then moved to the Co-op so my mum tried to get an account there. But she only works 3 days a week in a nursery, and earns less than £15,000 a year so they felt she could not be trusted, despite always paying off bills immediately and never ever having once gone overdrawn. So yes, I'm sure they're lovely - if you're rich enough!

She then tried Sainsbury's, but for the same reason they gave her a maximum of £100 on her credit card every month, so she went back to RBS where she was welcomed with open arms and a much better deal.

They wouldn't let my Down's brother join, so fuck them.
