This is a question Cheap Tat

OneEyedMonster remindes us about the crap you can buy in pound shops: "Batteries that lasted about an hour and then died. A screwdriver with a loose handle so I couldn't turn the damn screw, and a tape measure which wasn't at all accurate."

Similarly, my neighbour bought a lawnmower from Argos that was so cheap the wheels didn't go round, it sort of skidded over the grass whilst gently back-combing it.

What's the cheapest, most useless crap you've bought?

Don't. Buy. Cars. From. Ebay.
At least not without looking at them first. Our 'bargain price' Citroen Berlingo has so far had the following:

- Broken power steering pump (works, but louder than engine)
- Exhaust (fell off on drive home)
- Starter motor (died one week after purchase)
- Brakes (so bad they're funny: a choice of drifting gently across the white line, or locking up the front wheels)
- Thermostat (doesn't work, so car eternally freezing cold. Doesn't matter that much, though, because the fan stopped working today anyway.)
- Anti-roll bar (two parts missing)
- Rear axle mounts (detached)

The word 'shed' is overused these days, but I think that in this case it may be a little too gentle really.

Never buy a Citroen
or a Renault, or a Peugeot, or a Fiat, or an Alfa Romeo unless you like spending a lot of time fixing cars.

No odds if you buy it off e bay, a forcourt, or whatever

european cars are cool
the only thing that has really gone wrong with my r reg saxo is that one of the side skirts fell off, bu t that may have something to do with a car hedge interface!
never buy a fiat or alfa, not because theyre bad but because it puts you in the hands of the fiat / alfa aftersales departments, and you really dont want to be, i used to work for them, so glad i dont anymore

You bought a car on eBay...?
I bet that came in a fucking big jiffy bag - The postage alone would have been massive!
:-)

Beware the Saxo - I've heard 2 independant stories of them spinning out of control randomly...
