This is a question I don't understand the attraction

Smaug says: Ricky Gervais. Lesbian pr0n. Going into a crowded bar, purely because it's crowded. All these things seem to be popular with everybody else, but I just can't work out why. What leaves you cold just as much as it turns everyone else on?

The English football team and the World Cup
seriously? they beat Latvia/the Vatican or some other footballing nation and then we're subjected to months of speculation along the lines of "the world cup is coming home" with the associated battle of Britain imagery.

You dont hear the Germans, Brazilians, Italians etc going on about it constantly. Why not? Because they've won it more than once. Oh and also because they're not FUCKING RETARDED!

Claps hands.
But then we wouldnt get the 1966 competition!!!!

Thats where we draw lots of where we guess where abouts during the 90mins of an Engerlund game the comentator mentions about how this happened when we won the word cup in 66.....

I dont get it either
As far as I can tell, England has qualified for the world cup by beating Kazakstan, Bulgaria and the Isle of Wight (yes...I know). In the run up to the world cup all my friends who give a shit will harp on about "doing it this time" and "England being the best football team in the world". If we are lucky we will be put in a group with Uzbekistan, The Isle of Man and the Basingstoke Cubs-Scout second team. England will then play like 11 men who have never met each other before and we will be knocked out by the first team who can kick a football in a straight line.

Phew.

Ouch!...

I consider myself a staunch England football fan...but even I have to concede that your reply is 100% spot on.

The Global Obsession
I don't hear Germans, Brazilians & Italians go on about the World Cup, because I don't live in Germany/Brazil/Italy and I don't speak German/Portuguese/Italian.

If I did, I'm pretty sure I'd hear them go on about it as much, if not more so, than the English.

By the way, plenty of people have had sex more than once. It doesn't stop them going on about it. Just look at this Messageboard. Er hang on .... I've just seen a flaw in my argument.
