From what I've read about it (strokes chin thoughtfully)
there was some doubt as to whether his death was intended. Certainly he was not ashamed of his homosexuality, and took his punishment for it with bemused fortitude.

I would certainly dispute the statement that there was a "conspiracy to destroy his life" - people working with him were aware of his homosexuality, and his conviction came after an incident when a boyfriend of his stole from him, and Turing reported this to the police, and made the mistake of telling the police the nature of his relationship with the thief.

Yes, of course his conviction should not have happened, but he died a year afterwards, at a time when he was still working actively. The idea of him being outed by a baying mob and then topping himself as a direct reaction to this is somewhat misleading.

Fair enough.

Hmm...
Turing died of cyanide posoining a year later, an inquest decided that this was suicide. This was after his security clearance was revoked and he was given "hormone treatment" - which incidentally led him to grow breasts - as positive a morale boost as a man in his position could have surely. If this didn't lead to his suicide then I'm a purple fucking baboon.
