This is a question My Biggest Disappointment

Often the things we look forward to the most turn out to be a huge let down. As Freddy Woo puts it, "High heels in bed? No fun at all. Porn has a lot to answer for."

Well, Freddy, you are supposed to get someone else to wear them.

What's disappointed you lot?

diary of the dead
george, you need a fucking slap for this one, it makes land of the dead look good, which i didn't think was possible.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:39, 33 replies)
I initially read that as
"Dairy of the Dead"

Which sounds much more interesting.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:43, closed)
trust me
it couldn't be any less interesting as that pile of shite film. i'm so glad i didn't have to pay to see it.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:45, closed)
Yes!
*hugs you*
So so so so so so true.

And his cameo was cringe-worthy.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:46, closed)
I intend to make a film called
Afternoon Tea with the Dead

it's going to be awesome. Bruce Campbell as Elvis is going to be the hero, and Rammstein the evil masterminds behind the zombie outbreak
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:48, closed)
@kaol
wasn't it? his films are becoming nostalgic, self-indulgent tripe. nothing will ever live up to dawn of the dead.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:56, closed)
@vipros
it can't be any worse, can it? i say go for it!
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 14:57, closed)
It made me really sad.
Land Of The Dead was a cool concept (aside from "learning" zombies), and had some good moments.

I have nothing nice to say about Diary.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:04, closed)
You should watch
[rec] it's a spanish film, similar concept to Diary of the Dead, but really really scary.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:07, closed)
@kaol
yeah, the concept was good, shame about the delivery. i did like seeing tom savini as a zombie with a machete, though.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:12, closed)
@al
not heard of that, i'll keep an eye open.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:13, closed)
Yeah!
He was dressed the same as his part in From Dusk 'Til Dawn!
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:14, closed)
@smashmonkey
yeah, keep one eye open, the other one screwed shut and the rest of you behind the sofa.

Actually, it's not that scary, but the last ten minutes really are.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:17, closed)
@kaol
he was meant to be dressed the same as his character from dawn of the dead, known simply as "machete".
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:24, closed)
@al
will do!
you ever seen the boneyard? it's not scary, but bits of it are really creepy and the end will have you laughing your arse off!
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:25, closed)
@Monkey
One of the bikers?
Aaaaaah!
*all clicks into place*

What did you think of his remake of Dawn?
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:31, closed)
I liked the remake of Dawn
The fast zombies made the concept more scary, that said, the ending was a big cliched. but overall I liked the film.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:31, closed)
@kaol
yeah, he's the one who shouts "i see you, chocolate man!"
i wanted to hate the remake, but i can't, it fucking rocks! i bought the director's cut the day it went on sale. fast zombies are awesome and the soundtrack rules!
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:36, closed)
@al
i liked the end, it was nice to see something without a hollywood crappy happy ending tacked on to it.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:38, closed)
I liked it too,
Even though I don't like fast zombies. They scare me lots.
Lots and lots and lots.

I liked the ending. That's what you get for being American, fuckers!
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:39, closed)
i dragged my mates to the cinema to watch it
they told me afterwards that, every time a zombie appeared onscreen, i'd be sat there open-mouthed, a look of pure and utter glee on my face.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:42, closed)
Actually
I should clarify, I thought the ending where they got to the boat was a bit cliched, but the bits during the credits were ace.

That said, the massive continuity errors at the end did annoy me a bit.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:42, closed)
Al:
Continuity errors?

*listens*
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:45, closed)
@al
You were scared like a girl about the spanish horror film. Don't try and act all macho with the horror crowd.

I was almost there too
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:49, closed)
Okay
they blow up the truck, but it's barely on the jetty, and we're supposed to believe that the small fire is stopping the massed ranks of zombies from charging over the remains to eat the survivors?

Also, when blonde woman kisses the mad goodbye he stands and watches them sail off and has clearly no gun, then as it cuts back he is in the same position, but now has a gun by his side.

Now i've spotted it, it annoys me everytime.

edit - @MM I'm not trying to act macho, i'll freely admit I was shitting myself after that film. I tried watching the end again in daylight and with my girlfriend in the house, but I had to turn it off!
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:51, closed)
Fair enough al
I take it all back

*grovel*

EDIT: Every time I see that I start screaming MOVE! at the the telly, preparing myself for the imminent bloody death.

That never comes.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:56, closed)
Ah, yes!
Now you've said it, I can see it in my minds eye.
*frowns*
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 15:58, closed)
the gun was tucked into the back of his waistband
that's why you couldn't see it before. the burning truck was just a way of blocking that small jetty for long enough to get them away. the zombies would come after them, but not whilst on fire.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 16:16, closed)
That's another thing
the bit in the basement garage, if it was sealed off to stop other zombies getting in, why were there any in there in the first place (especially the half man who could swing)

And when you burn a zombie, it doesn't stop until it's brain is burned completely away, which takes a good while, so using a petrol pump would not be an effective weapon.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 16:20, closed)
it's a film
if you can't explain it, blame it on magic.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 16:28, closed)
Yeah I know
I do really like the film, they're just annoying little niggles, and the only bit that really gets to me is the gun missing at the end!
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 16:30, closed)
i still like
the idea that it was tucked into his waistband. it's probably not true, but it allows me to watch the film without being annoyed by anything other than steve and nicole
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 16:35, closed)
I'm not going to read back through this thread
I'm just going to think about 'it' tucked into his waistband.
(, Thu 26 Jun 2008, 16:42, closed)
@ clendrix
"it" isn't his cock, unfortunately. that is an entirely different kind of film ;)
