Oh yes. Had the same when I first skinned my head.Went with a mate to meet some of her mates - started getting on with an equally-beskin-headed bloke, said to him - "So you're one of us, then - straight out of the cancer ward?"
He laughed - genuinely laughed, shook his head - found it funny - and said "You weren't to know, and I know you're just having a laugh and I don't want to do your head in, so I'll get it over with: yes I am - non-Hodgkinson's lymphoma."
