Free range meat.
Are you saying that the rise of vegetarianism has not caused the rise in free range meat that is available. It's people's interest in animal welfare that has caused this to happen. Ok, it's still expensive and not widely available but it's a small step. If there had been free range meat when I started thinking about animal welfare then I would have bought that instead of cutting out meat altogether but now it's too late for me to go back.

Some people stop eating meat because of how animals are farmed and not because they think that you shouldn't eat animals. Some people just don't like the taste or texture and some just think it's healthier.

Everyone just stop veggie bashing and accept that everyone has different reasons for what they choose to eat or not eat.

I've just realised something
As a meat eater, I must confess my choice of meat is primarily based on taste, healthy eating for me, and price.

However, I do like animals and am appalled at the conditions some of them are kept and killed.

I suppose it makes me a hypocrite that I'm concerned about them, wouldn't hurt them personally, but would happily support the meat eating system.

I've nothing against veggies, as long as they don't become militant and tell me how to eat. I do support them in wanting better conditions for animals though.

People will always eat meat. I don't believe it's a healthier diet (unless you're stuffing fatty lamb down every day). In my opinion, vegetarians should spend more time actively convincing companies/farmers, etc., to be more humane, rather than the whole population to stop eating meat.
