well, i thought that too
the first time i did it, i thought the whole lot would pile back on. in fact, i gained 2lbs back out of the 10, and the rest stayed off. i think infrequently it's fine.

i'm allergic to cats, don't you know ANYTHING? budgie-whore. or goldfish, birds might need a bit too much commitment.
