At school
When we were at school, one of the games the older boys used to make us play was to see how long you could keep a mouthful of toothpaste in your mouth for, before having to spit it out. The first few seconds were usually no problem at all, but after 15 seconds or so, it really starts to burn. About as bad as a medium curry. At the 30 second mark it really is agony and that is as far as most people could manage.This fits in quite nicely with the QOTW.

So I can fairly safely assume that those were cries of pain. As those of you blokes who have gone for a piss after chopping chillies can probably attest to.
