[challenge entry] It's a sign! Look out for flying cars!
And prolly not worth its own thread

Don't know whether this works with the reboot; only saw two episodes and the car didn't jump over anything like it did in the original.

# I don't think I've seen any of the reboot.
But I do remember KITT being able to do pretty much anything it damn wanted. It was like Batman's plot convenie- I mean, utility belt.

# KITT gave me a long and abiding love of Pontiac Firebirds
which I will happily indulge when I make my millions. I'll even swallow my disappointment that the cars don't talk to me or have a little row of glowing red LEDs beneath their bonnet.

# I'm sure someone out there has customized a Firebird to some extent, to be a bit like KITT.
The LEDs would be easy, just a case of what kind of computer could be used.
(, Sun 7 Aug 2011, 16:08, archived)
# I'm sure that about a third of the owners of third generation Firebirds
have done exactly that.... :) The LEDs would be a doddle, actually. I could have done that with a few LEDs and a few 555 timers when I was at school. I'd have no clue now but frankly if we could figure it out then when we didn't give a toss I'm pretty sure I could figure it now.

The talking would be a bit tougher though. I guess I could program a little computer with a selection of stock phrases and run it through a synthesiser. It wouldn't be quite the same, but it would be *something*, at least.

# To be quite honest, when/if I get a car and it isn't a Firebird I'd give it a go. :P
Maybe the 'computer' could be an iPhone, modified to synthesize caller's voices? That would be awesome :D
(, Sun 7 Aug 2011, 16:28, archived)
# Oh now that is one good idea
Wouldn't be too hard to do, either.
(, Sun 7 Aug 2011, 16:34, archived)
# Even if I don't get a Firedbird I'd still want something like that for my phone.
It'd be so cool.

# If it's impossible, you can bet it will be done by the end of the show
For all the shows at that time, it was pretty much the same. There was an episode of Knight Rider where the car said jumping over the ramp on the back of a moving truck in a stunt show was not possible, but it was done with apparent ease. And then there was that episode of Airwolf where they managed to loop the loop.

I did come up with an idea for a parody of a Knight Rider-like show many years ago. It was a making of documentary, and there would have been a bit where the producer gathered everyone together that would have gone like this:

Producer: Many of you know <actor's name> who was staring in our sister show involving a high-tech motorcycle, Street Eagle. Unfortunately, he died earlier on today as a result of a high speed crash
Crew member: What happened?
Producer: Well, we managed to build a motorcycle capable of travelling through rush-hour traffic at 300mph. During a practice run, someone opened their car door.

# Then again, it was the 80's.
If it was even a little bit out of logical thinking, it could be done, and done perfectly. For example, the A-Team's infamous cabbage gun.
We need ingenuity like that in the special forces.

And as for the parody, I think even today that would be fitting; maybe not as much as back then, but then again all the old shows are coming back, along with trademark absurdity. Go for it. ^^

# Well Streethawk seems to be doing bugger all!

[challenge entry] LOLS!
Can I sneak this badger/sign-related pea which is barely related to the compo in here?

(, Sun 7 Aug 2011, 15:51, archived)
# Haha! :D you can indeed.
(, Sun 7 Aug 2011, 16:08, archived)
# and I'm glad you did
most chucklesome

# Badgers are mangy things....
(, Sun 7 Aug 2011, 16:33, archived)
# You can't deny that they are quite awesome though.
Or maybe you can, I dunno. :P

# I only ever saw my first ever real live badger about 2 years ago.
But this year I'v seen about 5 of them, I always imagined they were going to be beautiful pure black and brilliant white and clean looking...!!
What a shock it was to behold the shaby, dirty, mangy dark dark brown and cream things that scuttled accross the road looking like a worn out 20 year old rug that had never been cleaned...!!
(, Sun 7 Aug 2011, 17:12, archived)
# I think the only time I've seen a badger was in a farm sort of place a year or two ago.
It wasn't as shabby as you described a wild badger, of course.

I've seen both wild and 'domesticated' foxes, and I only really notice very subtle differences.
(, Sun 7 Aug 2011, 17:41, archived)
# I'm always seeing foxes...
When I see a nice one I always go "Arh lovely fox" when I she a shabby one I always go "Arh poor thing"
Just my first ever experience of seeing the badger (Which I alaways thought would be a real treat) was, "What the fuck is that hidious flea ridden mess walking accross the road"..!!
(, Sun 7 Aug 2011, 18:05, archived)
# I think my first ever experience with a fox was
"Oh shit what the fuck is that noise?!" not knowing at the time they caw, rather than bark or howl.

Shame that I don't see too many around the area :(

# All the foxes moved to the city... easy living for them there....
