# Hey Toats!
You seen the teaser trailer for Dredd?
(, Wed 20 Jun 2012, 13:56, archived)
# yeah, complained about it around 7am :D
don't like the look of the comic book FX.
The normal footage looks great, but I'm a little concerned that it'll be like a Zack Snyder film whenever the slo-mo drugs are used.

# All happens too fast for me. I've watched it a dozen times and can't work out what's what.

# I wish they had proper futuristic looking vehicles
instead of crappy looking vans and trucks.

# apparently that's quite brief at the start
so you've got the rest of the film to get over it
It does look a bit robocop though

# Everything I've seen so far...
...is gearing me up for MASSIVE DISAPPOINTMENT, just like last time.

I don't like the look of the uniforms, the vehicles or the Lawgiver. The limited amount of marketing makes me worry about the production itself and I'm not sure I'm all that keen on the cast or the story.

Why can't thay just do it, y'know, like, good for a change, eh?

# I like the uniform and the Lawgiver.
It's a bit like when different artists draw the strip, some of them emphasise the knee / elbow pads, Colin McNeil and Mike McMahon used to draw MAHOOSIVE kneepads, but in the original Ezquerra strips they weren't that big. (I'm just reading volume 1 of the collected stories, see).

The lawmaster shown in pre-production stills looks shit, mind and I don't like how they've used contemporary vehicles for the chase at the start. Still, it's been made on a much smaller budget than a Hollywood movie, so I'm prepared to overlook that if they get the characters right.

# A distinct lack of money has caused most of the shortfalls you mention.
As for their marketing - I don't think they have any budget left to sell the film, so they're relying on fans to hype themselves, (and others), over every occasional photo/tidbit which does see the light of day.
And the trailer was probably delayed to avoid it getting lost in a very comic book flavoured Summer and/or because it shares a similar premise to 'The Raid'.
