funnily enough, I used to carry an alarm clock as I didn't have a watch, or a phone.I'm a wild eccentric like that.

I just wear a watchwhen awake, and use an alarm clock to wake up. Radical. During the day, I am at work, working. At going home time I look at my watch and go home. After that I am within 12 feet of my home telephone.
If I go out I'm not near a phone, but generally if I wanted to talk to the person calling me, they'd be with me.
There is nothing I hate more than talking in real life to a friend only to be interrupted by a beep and be told: "That was Doris! She is stuck at Milton Keynes station because of points failure! She was going to cook Toad in the Hole tonight, but is going to order pizza instead now".
Call me selfish. But I don't care.
