I know they're trying to reduce the file size, but why not just create the animation half the height (or width) and then scale it up by specifying the "real" size in the img tag?

Like I did here.

You get better quality (no annoying lines) and the file is even smaller than with the lines method.

Edit: Oh, and Woo! to the anim. :)
