They are relatively expensive though, and not readily availibe. So probably not worth looking into.

if hes talking about the sony 4 track (forget model name) its a lovely piece of tech, and the md's although expensive (you can get them for about 3.50 near Guildhall uni) give great quality tunage, and make it way easier to record stuff at home.
