I find it too much of a headfuck on linux or windows so usually run photoshop natively or under wine

It can do some things
However most tutorials on this for Linux seem to have been written when black and white was the state of the art.

Screwing around with the colour depth
has reduced it in size to 128kb, but it's still not fantastic.
