# I don't think it's strictly people
I was going to take a pic of my keyboard and reverse the keys on it. Then I couldn't be arsed. As far as I know that falls within the challenge idea either way.

# i think if its restricted to people
the ideas run out pretty quick.

i hereby open the challenge up for you to change anything to any colour*

*has no authority to do this at all

# Hahaha!
That's what I'm saying. Just because it mentions people in the description doesn't mean it has to be just people. I mean if we literally went by "ebony and ivory" then we'd be talking about materials, not people or things.

# My keyboard is black
You keyboard racist

# So is mine
And it has a green LCD screen on it so I can't discriminate against green LCDs either.

# My other keyboards are white

# The world won't end if it doesn't involve people, but it does say it.
"Show us a world in which white people are black. Or brown. And vice versa."

# it happens with every challenge
every week. people go way off with it.

its nature, taking its course.

# this kind of train of thought breaks my brain
If you aren't doing what the Image challenge suggests, then you are failing to meet the challenge surely?
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 18:39, archived)
# Does it really matter?
Its not like there are prizes.
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 18:42, archived)
# no, not in the big scheme of things
I just don't understand why people enter an Image challenge with an image that fails to even meet the boundaries of the challenge.

It's like filling in a crossword with random numbers and patterns. It doesn't really matter, but it's not playing the game either.

# It has absolutely no bearing on you personally whatsoever.
Let people photoshop whatever the hell they like. If you're not keen, dont reply. Simple.

# No, I know
I should just learn to shut the fuck up and never question anything.
Keep your head down, never offer assistance, and never have an opinion. It's the way forward for me clearly.

# One extreme to the other, nice.
Lighten up Mr Toast, its only the internet.

# I'm bi-polar, didn't you know?
I thought it was obvious
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 19:19, archived)
# Well if you want to be so literal all the time
then why don't we all just literally post swapped pics of the materials ebony and ivory.
You must look forward to dissecting every single challenge description, just so you can find fault in someone's post. Otherwise you'd be DisappointedToast.
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 18:45, archived)
# There is a fair bit of scope for the whole swapping people thing
(It doesn't say just swap the materials ebony and ivory, that's the analagy at the start of Frasers text).

I don't think I'm being weird. It's a standard practice for me to read a brief before starting work. If I didn't then a lot of customers would be really fucked off that I'd messed up what they wanted from me.

I'm not saying don't post stuff, I'm just questioning why bother compo'ing some of it when it's just funny it's own right and becoming distracted by the compo thing.
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 18:54, archived)
# I wouldn't compare b3ta to a work brief.
It's supposed to be fun. And so what if people get carried away or don't obey the challenge to the letter. I'm guilty of tenuous entries myself but it's all just a bit of fun. Why not moan about people compo-ing text posts? And at the end of the day, anyone who isn't happy can always go and wear the serious hat at worth1000.
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 19:02, archived)
# For fucks sake I'm not moaning!
I asked one question, which Johno replied with "haha, i read the challenge properly, and it clearly states people. ah well"

Then you started saying I want everything literal and look forward to finding faults in peoples work.

And who says briefs aren't fun?!
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 19:22, archived)
# you did say you were bi

(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 19:26, archived)
# I don't see what that has to do with this conversation
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 20:15, archived)
# I once complained that somebody was
posting lots of images that were not strictly within the compo parameters.

He just got arsey, so now I just let it go. I can't be bothered with it.
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 19:14, archived)
# I'm not even complaining
just mentioned it in an offhand kind of way.
:(
(, Thu 1 Mar 2007, 19:24, archived)
# Yes,
and every other challenge description does much the same thing. It's just a general example to start you off in my opinion.
