I knew the anim would be long, so... I made a pattern using one of the tiles from the original pic, then blocked it in... so the background is the same layer all the way through (which keeps filesize doon a bit).

then I just kept making it a bit smaller until I got it under 200k. (128 colours, 15 lossy)
