# Seriously
Why does b3ta still have challenges? If people post several pictures that are related in theme outside a challenge people cry bandwagon.

# The one good thing it does is give new contributors an easy way in.
I posted my first image in a compo, it's much easier to start off like that.

# True
Back in the day when b3ta had about 50 people who regularly contributed to it it wasnt that bad but now that the board's population has boomed wednesday nights turn into a flood of ideas forced for the sake of making a post, reposts and people going THIS COMPO IS SHIT

Seems like we'd be better off without them.

# But every now and then you get a truly fantastic newbie.
It's worth skipping over few threads for that.
And besides, we need to nurture new talent for when the old guard retire or find something else to do with their lives.

# [What you mean to say is....
...why was the idea of a seperate /challenge board so strongly rejected?]
(, Wed 5 Mar 2008, 23:23, archived)
# I for one reject it.
B3ta is split up enough as it is, I don't think the images should be subdivided.
Either the challenge board would be rejected and die out, in which case simply remove the challenge altogether,
or you'd get different 'crowds' on each board, like with /board and /talk.

# [that seems to be the way it would go, I agree...
I do have to ask why you think people would "crowd" off?
(, Wed 5 Mar 2008, 23:30, archived)
# Just seems to be the way of things around here.
Talk board was meant to be a kind of overflow of chat from board, but what's happened is it's become an entirely different entity, with its own population and customs.
I know some people post on both boards, but it tends to be one or the other.
I believe there's even a question of the week 'crowd', strangely enough.

# ^this
God knows we've got enough problems with those cunts next door lighting bags of dog shit on our board and running off.
