When I lived in ItalyI collapsed into hysterics the first time I saw an advert for fish fingers on the TV, nautical chap with white beard and jaunty cap came into view, and all the kids started shouting for... 'Capitano Findus!'
My flatmates had no idea why I found it so funny, even when I tried to explain about Cap'n Birdseye to them.
