# give me a forest full of b3tans
and immunity and I'll show them all the wrong end of any number of nice 9mm head-ticklers ;)

# Give you a fair fight, however, and...?
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 3:18, archived)
# What would you consider fair
given my military background?
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 3:40, archived)
# How about...
As you said above, but without the immunity (although I dunno whether you meant legal, diplomatic [ha!], physical or what)?

# I say giant medieval broadswords daubed in paint.
Paintblading you could call it.

# I like that.
can I use a Katana?
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 3:50, archived)
# Why, are you gay or something?
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 3:59, archived)
# possibly.
Swinging a field sword is hard work. A katana and wakizashi combination is much more effective.

But mainly because the only broadsword I have is in the loft and i can see 2 katanas from where I'm sat.

were to accidentally shoot 4 or 10 people ;)

# Every time they have these grisly mass-murders in schools somewhere in the world,
the news refers to posts like yours as something like "chilling warnings the authorities failed to take notice of until it was too late."

Lay down your arms, Pasa!

Do some funny pictures!

# bah. Guns don't kill people.
I do. And then only from 5 miles under orders. ;)

I don't have many guns left ( due to pressures from the mrs over the last 4 years ).
The only live firers I have left are my shotguns and my Browning Inglis sidearm which I'm not supposed to have but most gunnery commanders i know managed to keep hold of.

I collected militaria because of a fascination with the engineering. No harm in that.

# I'm not likely to be going near any schools
and my son, who is learning to shoot with a 20 gauge, will be going to school in Dover at the Duke of York so I think your future progeny will be safe.

Society can't decide to only have soldiers when it suits them. You either have a standing army or not and if you do have one ten you can't complain about them when you have nobody left for them to kill or you have decided they are too old for the job.
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 4:20, archived)
# Hang on a sec.
It sounds like you are (or have been) a respectable career soldier.

So why do you spend your time sitting at your computer at 4am on a 'funny pictures' website, threatening to kill people and telling random strangers you'll never meet how hard you are? Especially if you've got a child to raise?

Why bother? I don't understand at all.
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 4:29, archived)
# It isn't any different to a successful ex-civil engineer telling strangers how to build a bridge
When you reach 40 you feel a need to tell the world your past glories.

I guess.

# I'm retired, bored and probably alcoholic.
my wife works in London weekdays and my mother takes care of the majority of my son's needs whilst she is away.
I entertain myself on sites such as b3ta. Some nights I drink too much and stay up far too late talking bollocks with strangers because I don't sleep well. But I have always been very open about that.
I disappear when we can take the boat out but she's going to be in dry dock for most of this season so I am doubly bored.

Lots of people have odd lives. Just because they don't appear normal to others does not make them any less of a life.
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 4:36, archived)
# Nice one. Ta for the honest response.
(It'd be nice for all if you could cut down on the threats, though. Shoot some pigeons or bats instead, perhaps?)
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 4:40, archived)
# Ah I did not mean to be seen to threaten anyone.
I was just trying to have a laugh as usual. People take me too literally ( which drives me mad )
I'm not so childish as to threaten people on the internet. It's a pointless excercise.
If I have an issue with someone I'll attempt to deal with it in private and give them the opportunity to meet me.
The bash could turn out to be fun.

Edit:// oh and I've not fired a gun in over 18 months which is more evidence of my lethargy because I used to do a 60 bird ( skeet ) shoot every Sunday morning.
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 4:44, archived)
# Some of the younger ones (not at this time of night) are/have been genuinely afraid of you, mate.
(, Tue 12 May 2009, 4:50, archived)
# Then they are fools.
Unless of course they turn up in my driveway at stupid o' clock in the morning without an invitation.
I'm just a normal bloke who's a product of the military.

( Yes, I am quite bitter about the army these days )

Anyway. I'm done. Time for bed and a movie because I meant it when I said I don't sleep well.

edit:// I'm not as bad as I used to be ;)

Yeah I just keep guns around, they're just kind of neat I guess.

once you stop imagining all-sorts about them and actually just pick one up.
