# That's not the Louvre....
It's not surrounded by Japanese tourists!
(, Sat 20 Mar 2010, 16:00, archived)
# its also about 4 times bigger than the Mona Lisa
and missing a frame and 12 feet of protective plastic

# It's a while since I saw it
but even then it was a ridiculous experience. All that fuss over a murky postage stamp of a painting.

# I'd be amazed if anyone came out of the Louvre thinking wow, that was amazing

# I don't know.
It's almost like a faith thing. If you believe the reputation, it's probably a very moving experience.
Me, I just saw a dull painting. Yes, the lady has a nice smile, probably. It's a bit hard to see, what with the machine-gun nest and barbed wire fence in the way.

# The real one is also smaller and behind bulletproof glass
and has a frame.
But that would be a bit harder to 'shop so this gallery has a cheap reproduction.
Edit : Much what Toasty said.
