I know that, and I do respect that.
I'm just personally not interested in seeing a thousand variations of the exact same on every damn "social/interactive" site.
I like a site that has a wide spectrum. Links to videos that already been posted 10 times on Facebook BUT also original content that people make just for creative outlet.
And i don't think it's "me, me, me" when I'm trying out the waters a bit to see if anyone would be interested in doing a collaboration video.
Aaaaand, finally, I actually have a lot more respect for people shitting on someones work if they've posted something themselves vs someone who hasn't. That's just my personal feeling about it.
And I know one of the guy here have uploaded music vids etc. I saw the one where he walked around for 4 minutes - but it was his music also - I could never make music. So I'll take his shit a bit more serious than just haters who don't produce own stuff.
But if you're suggesting that I should watch what's best received and try to be a crowd-pleaser and just post stuff that I think other people would like - even though I don't. :D That's not gonna happen.
If this is a site that only strives for conformity then I'll have fun trying my own thing until I get banned (which I hope I won't be) or until everyone have ignored me. But I'm not gonna start linking "Farage" or "Burley" vids just to be part of the cool sarcastic hipster-club.

Ha!
No, there's no "Fuck you" in there.
And it's more that I won't try to be Justin Beiber even though he is very popular. When it comes to creative stuff I need to like it myself - and if that's not what others like - I lose - but I'm still not gonna try to be Justin Beiber.
And I'm actually very open to anything constructive.
People saying that my stuff is shit etc. is however NOT constructive.
To each their own though!

You honestly think your comments to this post have been anything else?

Herb was always civil to me. I liked him/her - but apparently I got on the "ignore" list, so that will probably not do me any favors and kinda hard to discuss it if I'm on the "ignore"-list too.

???
No, I'm not the one slagging off other members work. I actually thought that was frowned upon here.
And that link you gave proves my point very well, thanks for that!
I'm just curious, do you even know what a "troll" is? - In the Internet-troll variety of course.

There's a big difference between observing the board and judging the mood/what people like
and just being a crowd pleaser
If the community appears to favour short clips of news, internet nonsense and interesting art then posting 14 hour long, self made documentaries on flower arranging is unlikely to go down well.

Well, if 2 people would like my 14 hour long, self made documentary about flower arranging - why is that such a bad thing?
It's kinda easy to skip for people not interested and if everything is gonna be "top-list" material and "odd" stuff frowned upon - it's gonna end up just being Justin Beiber or grumpy cat.

except B3ta isn't just Justin Bieber and Grumpy cat is it :)
it's evolution, if something isn't working move on to something else. Or if you're certain what you have is gold but you're not getting the response then perhaps the audience is wrong and you need to find like minded folk.
Alternatively carry on regardless, post what you like, quite often with time and effort people do get accepted :)

Well, I experiment a lot in my opinion.
I don't think I'm trying the same over and over again - and this was also a test to see if anyone wanted to be part of a collaboration.
And I didn't mean that b3ta was only that - It was just examples for what gets the most "hits" and goes viral in general.
But sure, I'm patient and I'm not to worried about haters but if it becomes apparent that I'm just really at the wrong place and it's not gonna change - I won't stay here just to be a douche - but give me some more time to try the place out at least.

b3ta is evolution now is it?
There was me thinking it was "puerile digital arts community", "where anybody can show off their creative skills"

serious question or sarcasm?
I think it's gone up and down over and over.

I'm with you on this.
I think the strength of the site is things people have made themselves. You don't want people fearing that what they have done is going to be unpopular and so not post it. The worst an unpopular post should get is no comments.
Aim for funny or interesting, and use the reactions to help you direct your work toward that (and comment on other people's work you like to encourage them).
If someone finds someone else boring, there's always the ignore button.

Post what you like if you made it and fuck the mod-lead nazi clique on here who keep referring to rules in a FAQ that do not exist
