This is a normal post Grim indeed.
The gun control issue is broadly debated, and has probably passed the point of no return, but cops killing citizens in such huge numbers? Surely that is something people have to sit up and take notice of? I'm surprised that it has been a UK broadsheet that has really raised the profile of the issue - I know in the US there is the cops vs. black killing issue, but this is even bigger than that. US Cops kill large numbers of civilians. End of.

will never happen here in an effective manner. (i am sure coxxy will be along shortly to explain why better than i)
but i DO worry, when the police no longer 'protect and serve' and are out for their own safety at whatever cost without proper training on defusing a situation. I have seen first hand how police intervention can escalate a situation with a mentally ill person that was not a deadly threat, but became one when 20 cops pointed guns at him.

When the people are the enemy, who protects the people?
saying this sort of thing, i get a looks like i am crazy.

(i clearly am)

This is a normal post We had a couple of spree killings with firearms that led to public opinion being in favour of tight gun control.

You've had many more sprees yet public opinion never seems to have reached that critical point.

We dont have a 300 year old bit of paper that the gun companies claim allows everyone to be armed at all times.
Also we dont have hundreds of gun companies paying off politicians here to repeat the lie over and over again for the last 100+ years and brainwashing the yanks into thinking its a right to have guns.
Its about a much of a right as it is for them to be allowed to eat pizza.

This is a normal post I think we used to have stuff about being armed, mandatory archery practice etc.
But we moved with the times.

One of the main drives behind the creation of the NHS was all the soldiers coming back after WW2 with a lot of them needing long term care.

The fact that the UK now had a large part of the working class UK population that was now hurting, angry and importantly still had their weapons including a lot of looted nazi guns may have lead to it's creation.

Yes just imagine if the fletchers and bowmakers had thought of bribing the government we might still all be packing longbows and having 2 hours of enforced archery practice every week.
We could all go Welsh hunting in Chester also, everyone trying to find a Welshman in the town of Chester after midnight.

How about August bank holiday? we could organise a B3ta meetup and all chase you about Chester while trying to shoot you with longbows.
We could all shout nonsense about it being our rights and that you will take our bows from our cold dead hands etc etc..
