Not a fear of people from other countries, or even people of different racial or ethnic backgrounds.
There is a fear when a president says he will not enforce laws that he is constitutionally required to enforce in favor of people who are breaking the law and entering and staying in the country illegally. That is where people are unhappy - the lawbreaking and the tacit approval, even in the face of Supreme Court decisions.
There are many people who are doing the whole immigration thing right, by complying with the laws and regulations. It is very costly and time consuming, like anything else when dealing with the government.

A country's makeup and culture are much more than race and ethnicity.
Otherwise, we would refer to people from the UK, France and Germany as sharing the same makeup and culture just because they are predominantly Caucasian and Christian.
But feel free to ignore to fit your biases.
