She's rotating counter clockwise (her left leading) and going up and down at the same time with a slight angle tilt on the 3d model.
Reading the bit at the bottom I don't see how it could be going clockwise.

If you look at the shadow at the bottom it sometimes helps to flip this 8 year old image around.

ahhhhhhhhh, I think I see what people are talking about but it's not exactly an optical illusion
it's just about perspective/camera positioning.
The bad angling of the 3d model causes her foot to lift off the ground giving you a minor forced lower angle of the animation. So what you can see if you stare at the feet is like looking at her from under a glass surface (you pervert) and therefore a reverse motion of what she is doing.
Looking at her upper body clearly (in my mind) shows the direction.
if it wasn't a silhouette it would fall apart horribly.

It is an optical illusion because it forces the brain to make an assumption about the direction of rotation.
Either assumption breaks down when you see the images rotation switch. Not everyone sees it rotate the same way initially.
