I hate people deriding others for their taste in music
I REALLY love Tom Waits and cannot fathom how anyone wouldn't, but at the same time I fully appreciate that there are people that don't.
What absolutely pisses me off is people who try to claim musical superiority. Like "Tom Waits is critically acclaimed therefore he is better than One Direction". Just depresing that anyone thinks in that way.
Tom Waits IS better tho;D

He's one of those artists I would sort of pretend to like in conversation.
I mean, I won't for one minute not acknowledge that he's good, important and iconic, but I really don't get him myself. Something must be wrong with me.
I felt the need to admit to it. No idea why.

It's no big deal
I don't like the Beatles myself, I think they were shit. But I realise that they had a huge influence on a lot of people and really made a huge difference in the music scene.
For that reason, I can't really diss them, and have tried to get them loads but at the end of the day I still have the same opinion.
A lot of this kind of thing is about a willingness to appreciate the difference they made to the music scene. One way or another, somehow it affects the musicians that you do like and somehow shapes their output.
So I don't worry about it, try to embrace their views and widen my scope.
Doesn't always work out, but hey...worth a shot... I only have something to gain from it.
