there is a theoretical physics theory that proposes that as we rapidly (in the grand scheme of things)approach the capability to create sentient AI characters and place these characters in flawlessly realised environments without them realising it, then it is statistically probable that it has already been achieved, and we are those characters and the world and its history as we know it are simply the complex back story of a game.
