This is a link post Difficult tree felling job
I thought I had fully depleted youtube's stock of tree surgery/logging/milling videos but then this popped up.
Not for everyone, I'll grant you. It's a bit long and not that much action, but the chap seems very nice and the story is good.
If you share my addiction, gaz me - I have loads of awesome tree videos in my 'like' list.

This is a normal post That's a shitty old rotten tree!
I like his MO though.

This is a normal post It's a horror.
You can see how bad it is even at the top. And respect for not reneging on the contract.
But I just like his style - I wonder how he ended up being a tree surgeon in the Pac NW - probably just figured 'where are there lots of big fucking trees?'

This is a normal post I'm handy with a chainsaw and can drop bar and a half diameter trees
but engaged a contractor to drop a huge rotten beech tree. Once the crown was off it was obvious that there was, in effect, a 70' rotten wooden drainpipe left to deal with. The bloke doing the work had a contemplative sit, and steadily made himself a neat rolly. "Is that to steady your nerves before you go back up?" I asked. He replied "No, it's for afterwards because I'll be shaking too much to roll a cigarette".

He did a stupendous job, just magic to see him tackle such a nasty tree.

This is a normal post Nice one. That's proper 3am courage/dark humour
As my tree surgeon mate likes to observe in his cups 'if you make you living with a chainsaw in your hands, you die with a chainsaw in your hands'.
I have three - the 40cm bar petrol is a bitch to start but the ancient withered repair man just looks at the fucker and off it goes. The smaller petrol (I forget the bar, it's that old but probably 18 inches) is lovely. But my goto these days is electric. Kids, remember to use a cut-out when using electric cutting equipment.
I have some lovely trees - including - sadly necessarily cut back - elms, some big douglas firs which worry me. And loads of gash fucking cunt sycamore which I'd nuke from orbit in a second.

This is a normal post Yay, a new tree vid. I've exhausted youtube's tree work supply.
Falling dead trees is exciting. Buckin' Billy Ray is a channel I subbed to for a while. But I've been too busy building a mountain bike trail on my property, and bikes have taken priority.

This is a normal post It will soon be time to make a nice diy alaskan mill
and deal with any trees you had to fell to make the trail.

This is a normal post Not trees were cut.
One reason I made the trail was that the forests I ride have all been shredded by logging recently.

This is a normal post "septic field"
it's where we throw our shits.
Edit: septic leaching fields are remarkably hi-tech as I'm finding out
