Nooooooo
not you. Really?
Not going to spoil it for anyone here, but it did it for me. I love that kind of thing and I keep coming back to it. One of them films that seem like it wasn't really made but has. Weird, but without giving anything away is as best I can say.
I loved it. Very bold.
*sneaks off to watch it.... :D

I could see the influences
and appreciated them individually but it was such a disjointed mish mash of them, I felt it didn't really know what it was trying to be. It felt like watching an over excited dog who had just been offered ALL the food and didn't know which thing to eat.
*enjoy :D

I see where you're going but ...
I always watch films (or at least I try to) without thinking they have been influenced by anything.
Film ,,, Empty Mind ,,, Enjoy (or Don't Like)

In an ideal world
the film makers craft allows you to switch that part of your brain off, but you can't ignore and disregard things you have seen before entirely. That is one of the things I love about watching films. However this had 'jolts' in it that took me out of that imaginative space and just made me go 'meh'. But you are right on the enjoy or don't like, we all like different things.
But don't presume I don't watch films with an empty mind or I will have to kill (list) you.

:D No offence intended to the buff !
ON ANOTHER NOTE ... peeps SHOULD watch this film though, to see what they think.
There are so many other film references it IS untrue ... BUT as a standalone ....
support the British film industry (not directed at you btw :)

I'm inclined to agree.
I think it's really well directed, shot etc... but ultimately it falls underneath its attempt to be clever with ambiguity. I'm not sure recognising influence is much of a compliment in that regard... it doesn't do anything new with said influences. Too much emphasis on improvisation too, I think. The script really needed steering into shape to give the audience a bit more payoff.
But yeah, in terms of it having been made by somebody from here, amazing.

Ha, that's a good analogy towards it, but I don't agree
ads are on lol. had to come back.
I think it's all in the mood of the film, why I enjoy it is the ways the moods shift around, the story makes that happen right to the end. Not many films are so brave these days, it makes a really nice change to see. Plus it looks really nice.
*runs back to watch more... : D

Man that last part is brutal. The sounds as well, like a carpenter film, builds up.
*back to it.

Easily one of the better Horror films I've seen in recent times.
The sense of dread that runs throughout is unbearable at times and the film as a whole stayed with me for days. The fact that the end was relatively open was a masterstroke, it allows you try and fill in the blanks yourself which in itself is a brilliant scare device. It's that sense of the unknown that creeps you out even further.
Fucking brilliant film.
