The best thing about corduroys
was that veep veep sound they made as you were walking.
I had a teacher once that wore a full corduroy suit, brown of course, with a handwoven tie. He never washed it and the wales were worn out in the seat and knees.

I had a black corduroy jeans'n'shirt suit in the 70s, looked WELL snazzy
Metal buttons, long shirt tail, SHARP pointy collar.

I have a photo of myself in it and an Afghan coat at Conway Castle.
