This is a question Redundant technology

Music on vinyl records, mobile phones the size of house bricks and pornography printed on paper. What hideously out of date stuff do you still use?

Thanks to boozehound for the suggestion

Monkey Island
Recently downloaded and completed Monkey Islands 1 and 2 off of the xbox marketplace. Enjoyed revisiting the old jokes and puzzles but with shiny new graphics and all....

but its just not the same as when i was on my Atari for hours, scouring computer mags for "tips" on how best to use my rubber chicken with a pulley in the middle et all.

they dont make action adventure games like they used to, and the internet has killed off puzzle solving

those games were fucking brilliant
I recently did the same on the PC.

I can recommend giving the new Tales of Monkey Island a go. They were better than Monkey Island 3 and 4 I reckon.

but i cant install games on my work laptop :-(

I can't recommend Benoit Sokal's Siberia enough
It's undoubtedly one of the finest adventure games of the last decade, and it's hauntingly beautiful and atmospheric to boot. You can probably pick it up for a fiver.

beneath a steel sky was excellent
so was Sam and Max, Day of the Tentacle and even that ww2 one where you start on a submarine and theres like some munster killing everyone and saying "cthulu" and that
(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 15:09, closed)
What is this WW2 one? Sounds intruiging. Cthulhu*

Is the PS3 version mouse compatible
If it was that would be amazing :)

I've got a version of the SCUMM emulator with a few oldies on it somewhere, loads of the old Lucasarts classics running on the PSP :D
(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 15:11, closed)

(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 15:13, closed)

Full Throttle :D
(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 15:17, closed)
full throttle
i youtubed the start to this not long ago, just cos its brilliant.

couldnt get past atlantis on indy, ran out of orichalcum.....ffs
(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 15:19, closed)
It's still awesome now
I don't think there's many games that could compete with that one :)

Broken Sword 1,2 and 3..the Phantasmagoria series were a bit weird.
7th Guest and 11th Hour were mental too.

Maniac Mansion and Day of the Tentacle were the only others I can think of right now.

discworld was pretty good too

(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 15:45, closed)
I loved Simon The Sorcerer
Even the second one, although the first was better because it was voiced by Chris Barrie
(, Thu 4 Nov 2010, 15:46, closed)
King's Quest!
Monkey Island is undoubtedly the best adventure game series ever, EVER, but we did love King's Quest round about the same time.
(, Fri 5 Nov 2010, 8:41, closed)
I downloaded the first one too.
Never did complete the second game tho. Can't even tell you at what point I got stuck at....must download it at somepoint and try it.
