Put his car up for sale
In the local rag. Put it in at a hugely discounted price but not too low so people think it's a miss-print.

I could do that, except that he doesn't have a car anymore. He used to have a convertible which he was very proud of, until someone tipped battery acid it (not me!) The police said it was probably random vandalism, but I think he'd pissed someone else off somewhere along the line... anyway it was written off so now he gets the bus!
