Me too (soap gag).Heard it when I was at school, aged about 16. It suddenly came back to me - God knows why - when I was walking down Oxford Street at least 10 years later, and the penny dropped.
For a while after that I told the joke to all and sundry, hoping to get a blank stare followed by a forced laugh. Everyone I told the joke to got it straight away, of course.
