This is a question Common

Freddy Woo writes, "My wife thinks calling the front room a lounge is common. Worse, a friend of hers recently admonished her daughter for calling a toilet, a toilet. Lavatory darling. It's lavatory."

My own mother refused to let me use the word 'oblong' instead of 'rectangle'. Which is just odd, to be honest.

What stuff do you think is common?

Part 1 (of possibly several)
A lack of manners, smoking outside, regional accents, writing in “text speak”, leisure wear worn outside of the gym, Vauxhall cars, net curtains, novelty ring tones, poor grammar, Wetherspoons, chartered airlines, belching or breaking wind in public, flip-flops (except when worn by a pool or on a beach), supermarket clothing, KFC/ Burger King/ Pizza Hut/ McDonalds, multiple satellite dishes on one home and lastly (for now) own label foods from Aldi/ Netto/ Lidl.

@ Battered
Where do you propose we smoke these days?
(, Thu 16 Oct 2008, 16:32, closed)
I propose
we smoke INSIDE, and to hell with it.

Worked in Greece, Germany, Switzerland etc...

Clearly we have the public's support.

Netto?
Its pretty good you know, and cheap.
(, Thu 16 Oct 2008, 17:35, closed)
I'm not happy about the regional accents.
I'm quite proud of mine.

You are one hateful person, but
At least all those non smokers can't get free nicotine now.

Vauxhall cars?
How do they belong in that list - should I walk until I can afford a Jaguar?
(, Thu 16 Oct 2008, 18:38, closed)
he's right about vauxhalls
I would rather walk

Flip-Flops
How dare you diss flip-flops! They are by far the best footwear on earth and super comfortable.
(, Fri 17 Oct 2008, 6:41, closed)
flip flops
people that say "diss" when not referring to a norfolk town..

What is wrong
with regional accents?

I like them. I find them interesting and useful.

And Wetherspoons. They serve very good and cheap ales.

I don't understand you.

Regional Accent
Does everyone not have a regional accent, on account of everyone coming from a region?

(Apart from Army kids who seem to have one of their own)
Belching or breaking wind in public, what do you hold the fuckers in until you get to the designated "wind and bodily function release room" in your house (Pronounced Hise).

Also not everyone can afford to shop at Waitrose and drive a Jaguar (Don't worry I pronounced it Jagwah). Oh and chartered airlines, are you some kind of cunt.

You stupid cunt

I disagree with the own brand food and supermarket clothing; common is in how you act and what you do, not how big your budget is.

I've always thought that expensive naff designer rubbish is more common/chavvy than a bog-standard pair of jeans for £6 from Tesco.
(, Fri 17 Oct 2008, 14:07, closed)
exactly
if i can get something similar in size/quality for a cheaper price, damn sure I will, and maybe more than one of.

And, quite a lot of "supermarket's own" food is quite good, and occasionally better than the "real deal"

Got to agree with the rest
Common is as common does,
not the content of your bank account.

Twunt

Leaving aside
all the other silly things you've said.

Some of the poshest cunts I know wear flip flops. Their Jack Wills tracky bottoms trailing over them.
