This is a question Complaining

I like writing letters of complaint to companies containing the words "premier league muppetry", if only to give the poor office workers a good laugh on an otherwise dull day. Have you ever complained? Did it work?

bargain hunters but stupid!!
In April of this year I thought I had seriously lost the plot and had spent £1000+ I couldnt account for until I got my bank statement 1k had gone to Asda £300 to (spit swear)Ryanair or Robbing air hate the company with a vengeance. I am straight on to the bank to get sorted - they did okayish but my main complaint with Asda online shopping was the fact that despite suspecting fraudulent activity and cancelling my account with them they never contacted me or flagged it with my bank so the feckers went on to spend money with RobbingAir. After a dozen phone calls 5+emails and one letter I have given up up complaining as they have not responded once to ANY correspondence I am now setting about slagging off the online service to all and anyone. My final rant email to them was about the fact that although the person "obviously had an eye for a bargain they had no brains" as the food/goods from asda had to be delivered to an address and the plane tickets were not in my name- All details have (according to my Bank) been passed to the police. If anyone knows a journo who would be interested in a slow news week I am happy to tell!!!I really want to teach the gits to ignore me. Rant over

Companies are rubbish at this
Banks can be quite good.
Had a similar thing happen to me, £160 to sainsburys, £180 to new look, caught it within the hour (the person using it was changing my verified by visa password, so i got the e-mails), got in touch with the bank to stop the card, then both companies. Pointed out that they could:
a) send the goods, then have the money reclaimed off them by my bank
or
b) not send them, refund the money, or just hold the goods then cancel the order when the money got reclaimed

Took them so long to respond, that i doubt they actually did anything (used the online system, found out about this late at night, and had already spent quite some time on hold with the bank, so didnt fancy their customer care lines).

Another couple password changes happened (VbV is exactly as secure as not using it, the only piece of info you need to change the password you don't need to do a normal transaction is the issue number, which is "1" on 90% of cards.), but this was after the card had been stopped.

I then ended up waiting for ages for the new card due to my own incompetence (forgot my account address was set to my term time one, which I'm not due back at for another month (this happened late July)).

The bank (Alliance and Leicester) were great (aside from the first CS person i spoke to, who misunderstood and thought I was trying to cancel my own orders, not one someone else had made), the cash was back in my account as soon as the transactions cleared (they cant refund until it shows up on the statement), I just couldn't get to it due to the aforementioned own stupidity.

My dear old
mother was subject to similar. She had a nominal topup card bought for 20 quid - all seemed well so the guys go on to spend more, 200 quid on body building supplements! The flag to the bank though, was an on line Dominos pizza to be delivered to their address... card stopped, transaction refused, but to their credit all monies were returned within 2 or 3 weeks. Not the sort of sum you ever want to just lose, not the sort of sum I could be without for a few weeks, but all in all they were quick courteous and efficient.

So I suggest you go into branch, speak to a real human and get them to help you resolve the situation. It will work. The banks get their money back from the retailers at the end of the day.
