This is a question Have you ever seen a dead body?

How did you feel?
Upset? Traumatised? Relieved? Like poking it with a stick?

Is it just me?
Reading through this weeks posts has served to confirm (again) something I have held dear for a long time: I am strangely comforted by the idea of dying. Knowing that at some time in the future all this will be over and with a bit of luck I might be able to embark on another great adventure. I'm not unhappy or a morose suicidal goth\emo type. I simply find the idea very comforting.

Life ’n’ death an’ that

Gets you thinking doesn’t it.

We’re on this planet for a remarkably short time, we get to see a brief snapshot, a momentary instant of existence and then we’re gone. What is the point of this flicker of life. To have fun, learn stuff, find inner enlightenment, praise the glory your deity? No, of course not. There is no point to your life, get over yourself.

And then you have children. These ‘little yous’ taking on your mannerisms, ideas and beliefs. And you know you’d give up your life in a heartbeat to protect the little buggers, the point becomes clear, your path to eternal life is there watching Cbeebies when you come home from work.

So while death isn’t something I’m looking forward to, I’m not terrified by the prospect as I once was. I can see the little ROFs are going to turn out all right, and as far as I can tell I’ve not fucked them up.
When I go there’ll be a few people who’ll remember me fondly for a while, which is nice.

No I agree
For months before she passed away the wifes Nan would say "I have had enough now2 or "I'm just waiting my turn" she had fully accepted the fact that her time was almost up and was almost welcoming it.

And as sad as it was it was also kind of nice to know she was ready to go and wasn't scared.

Maybe
Maybe like reading a book and knowing that it will have an ending? I love life, but what scares me is not its end, its the pain that precedes the void, and the sadness of those left behind. In metaphor land, it's not that the book ends which concerns me, its that the last part of the last chapter may not be much fun.

This QOTW has been one of the few recent ones worth reading, who says everything on b3ta has to make you laugh?

You're
either very well balanced or completely psychotic. :)

It's not just me then.
A well balanced psychotic? I could live with that. Sometimes think I do (Sorry Mrs P).
