I too have this.With my lodger, girlfriend, daughters...in fact, seemingly every bastard who visits my house.
I seem to spend a serious proportion of my day closing doors, turning off lights, putting t-bags in the bin (I don't even drink tea) etc...
I've but screaming door alarms on three of the doors now (hey, it's nearly winter...and I'm the only fucker paying the heating bill!). That's helped a bit.
I'm now going to wire the rest of the lights into a big remote control bos.
Come to think of it, this could be where my obsession with home-automation has come from....
