This is a question Eccentrics

We all know someone who's a little bit strange - Mum's UFO abduction secret, or the mad Uncle who isn't allowed within 400 yards of Noel Edmonds.

Tell us about your family eccentrics, or just those you've met but don't think you're related to.

being a Brit, I thought I had seen eccentric,
until I spent a day or two in Santa Cruz. My all time favorite has to be Robert, also known as "the pink guy". He wanders up and down the main road in santa cruz, all day, every day, dressed in pink, with pink makeup, pink hair, pink hat and a pink parasol. Always got a smile on his face and a lovely bloke to talk to. Just a bit bonkers.

I was just considering writing about him!
I'm also a Brit who used to live in Santa Cruz. Apparently his 'slow walking down the high street' act has been going on for some years, carefully straddling the line between performance art and crazy. He's only been wearing the Pink get up for about the last two years. He put it on for valentines day one year when he was feeling down and it cheered him up so much he's been wearing it ever since. Before that he used to wear bin liners. not normal bin liners but an immaculatly tailored suit, made from bin liners. He also claims to be an Ex-NASA electrical engineer and He once ran for president on the platform of opening up the moon for commercial exploitation.

Despite all of this I'm not sure if the guy is crazy or not. Admittedly the bar is rasiedcosiderably in this part of California( www.metroactive.com/papers/cruz/10.26.05/weird-0543.html) but despite his eccentric get up he appears quite lucid and articulate when you talk to him.
