This is a question Expensive Mistakes

coopsweb asks "What's the most expensive mistake you've ever made? Should I mention a certain employee who caused 4 hours worth of delays in Central London and got his company fined £500k?"

No points for stories about the time you had a few and thought it'd be a good idea to wrap your car around a bollard. Or replies consisting of "my wife".

bloody hell!
My dad was a haulier when I was a nipper and some of the stuff he told me about things that can potentially go wrong with a 38 tonne arctic make your hair curl. While not an expensive mistake, I remember the day he was roping and sheeting some pallets and putting his whole body weight on the rope to tighten it. The rope gave way and flew backwards, landing on his outstretched arm which snapped like a twig. His comment after was "i was a bit bloody shocked, but not as shocked as the guy in the P and O lorry who was just pulling out behind me and had to swerve to avoid my head...". I've always had a lot of respect for trucks and truckers since!
