Damn it I hadn't heard of that, PJMCompelling stuff indeed. But you're mentioning grandchildren - what about the other side of the family? Surely something there could have accounted for it (like a resistance gene on the maternal side that wasn't on the paternal side, or vice versa).
Anyway, its 10pm here in NZ so I'm off to sleep. Might bring it up tomorrow in class though...
