This is a question Get Rich Quick

Jabboy contacted us because he's skint. So what have you done to make money fast? Did you actually make anything, or were you just ripped off by someone who really was getting rich quick? Did you have to sell your soul?

PS. Jabboy is available for rent on 0870 88673242

It's all relative
I always considered that chattels were gained by hard work. How wrong I am.

Do fuck all. Attend a dole office where you bemoan your inability to get gainful employment. Cash cheque. Exist off scratch cards and sunny delight. Repeat ad infinitum.

It's not getting rich quick but where the rest of us slog our bollocks off for 40 plus hours a week I can't help but wonder who's ahead.

bollocks
being forced into a situation where you have to demean yourself and sign on, then jump through all the petty hoops in order to get enough money to eat, just about, and fuck all else is one of the most soul destroying things an intelligent and motivated person can do.

before you you criticise a man, walk a mile in his shoes
that way, you'll be a mile away, and you'll have his shoes

What mictoboy said ^
I was going to say virtually the same thing, but I thought that the reasoning behind the original post smacked a bit too much of the 'get a job' ignorance, so I didn't waste the effort.

Having been 'on the dole' (which, I might add, is a term only used by those who have had no experience of the system) myself, I can tell you it's absolutely horrible. I would much rather work a 60-hour week, underpaid and overworked, than be back on Jobseekers' Allowance.

Living off scratch cards?
On the dole?

Like helicopters?

Read the south-coast diaries - it's awesome.

Seriously, it's a good read.

who's ahead?
not the people on the dole. have you ever tried to exist(i won't say live, because it's not living) on jobseeker's allowance? you can eat in summer, just about, but in winter you have to choose between food and heat. nobody should have to do that. the majority of people i've met on the dole have been those who believe they have no chance of getting a decent job and, due to inflation, would end up worse off financially in a minimum-wage job. i'm lucky, in a way. i'm disabled and get more than jobseekers. that doesn't mean i wouldn't love to be able to have a decent, well-paid job and make a career of it. one of these days, if the nhs can finally sort me out, i may be able to.
okay, rant over.

doley sponging bastards
I've been on the dole. Twice. And I saw that the people who work there couldn't give a shit whether I found a job at all. They would have been happy to let me claim forever. They didn't even bother to check whether I'd been looking for work.

True, the money kept me afloat during difficult times, but in both cases I was able to find a job within a couple of months - and I was looking for the kinds of jobs that don't come along very often (especially when you've got no experience on your CV).

Seems to me that if you're able-bodied and at least attended school for a few years, there's no reason to be on the dole for years unless you're a lazy, sponging bastard. I took jobs that were far below me (and which paid subsistence wages) to get experience. And in three years I've doubled my salary. I believe anyone can do that, whether it's in carpentry or retail.

@mlctoboy
Do I detect a hint of Jack Hardy there? Excellent.

Also I work a few doors down from the dole office and the amount of peopleChavs I see with 3 kids and a souped up corsa laughing about their easy money is enough to make you feel sick.

I have nothing against people who are genuinely looking for jobs and need the cash as a stop gap but I have seen the same peoplechavs go in and out for over a year now.
