This is a question Bizarre habits

Sandettie Light Vessel Automatic tells us: "Until I pointed it out, my other half use to hang out the washing making sure that both pegs were the same colour. Now she goes out of her way to make sure they never match." Tell us about bizarre rituals, habits and OCD-like behaviour.

When a passenger, being driven...
...I have to change gear in time with the ups and downs of the kerb at things like driveways or car park entrances. Kerb drops, left foot on the clutch; kerb rises again, left foot off the clutch.

Sometimes, for variation, I'll use lamposts as the markers instead. Or alternate sides of the road.

Occasionally, I'll go into a fit of double-declutching as we near our destination.

And what makes it freakish is that in the US automatics outnumber manuals by hundreds to one. I need psychological assistance...

If you were a passenger in my car...
.. you wouldn't get to change gear at all, much less in time with passing kerbstones.

I've found that it's usually integral to driving to do the gear changes myself.

You could pretend to change gear, if you like, though.

I meant, but failed to mention, that I do this in my mind only; I merely clench my left foot/clutch and right foot/accelerator toes, and mentally shift gear.

Another OCD trait of mine is to assume that I know everything and that everyone knows exactly what I'm thinking, doing and feeling. You mean you don't? Freak.
