I would never do this..... because I would not want to give my kid the impression that (s)he was entitled to anything they had not yet paid for. Kids are surprisingly perceptive.
However, if you are giving kids strawberries from a box with a bar-code on it, it wont' make any difference to how much you pay that a few are missing.
