This is a question Political Correctness Gone Mad

Freddy Woo writes: "I once worked on an animation to help highlight the issues homeless people face in winter. The client was happy with the work, then a note came back that the ethnic mix of the characters were wrong. These were cartoon characters. They weren't meant to be ethnically anything, but we were forced to make one of them brown, at the cost of about 10k to the charity. This is how your donations are spent. Wisely as you can see."

How has PC affected you? (Please add your own tales - not five-year-old news stories cut-and-pasted from other websites)

Disabled Parking
As a motorcyclist I suffered an horrific road traffic accident on a motorway which left me with a badly broken leg (now 65mm short). I actually had to argue my case for a Blue Badge Parking Permit with my GP. I was always sceptical of the PC disabled parking schemes, but when you are physically challenged it becomes a REAL eye opener. The reaction of some assholes when I park is incredible, I now take great delight in deliberately forgetting the badge and limping to my car reagrdless. But it still disgusts me the number of able bodied people using disabled bays, usually because they drive a 4x4, total cunts!

Yes,
being able to park 20 feet closer to Tesco must be a real necessity if you're disabled.

I just see it as the worlds shittest consolation prize.

As a once (long ago) trolley monkey at Sainsbury's
it was a fun game to spot the people who had parked in Blue Badge spaces who weren't in any way displaying a Blue Badge (or any sign of deserving a Blue Badge - a decent limp counted). They were the ones you practiced mis-directing a long stream of trolleys into the back of their 4x4 or Space Wagon.

"Well, you shouldn't really have been parked there" is enough to get most people to back off.

In a small, in-the-end-it-means-nothing way, some able-bodied people take offence on behalf of the guys who actually deserve to take those spaces...

My wee mum
who passed away earlier this year, was eligible for a mobility car. She had a hell of a time, a condition called neurosarcoidosis which mainly affected her eye, lungs and made her off balance and unable to cope with walking long distances..... she HATED that, felt that if she staggered people would think she was drunk. As my old Dad worked most nights, I used to take her to the shops and the disabled spaces were a Godsend. It was often through grated teeth I'd fend off people as I waited.... a young guy in a brand new Astra sitting in their beloved space. Sadly, she lost her 2nd fight with cancer earlier this year (after spending a large portion of it unknowingly battling the symtoms with co-codamol and a forced smile) but before then those spaces gave her back a little bit of the freedom the illness had taken.

And they took my car! Fucking new labour. Apologies for the length of me reply..... this struck a chord, and I don't have any PC stories.

As I said in the Council Cunts qotw,
we have to apply for a new Blue Badge every couple of years for my disabled brother. And every time, we have to argue our case anew. They seem to think people can magically get better from being disabled.

Bob Todd
the phrase "argue our case" gave me an amusing image.

"You're not disabled"
"Yes I am."
"Prove it."
"I'm in a wheelchair."
"No youre not."
"Look I clearly am."
"Prove it."
"I- what...?"
"Prove it."
"Erm..... I'm in a chair, with wheels."
"Okay then, you can have your badge. Just climb that ladder over there."
"I can't, I'm disabled."
"Ah! You passed the test. You'd be surprised how many people get fooled by that one!"
"None?"
"Yes, around that figure. Here's your badge."

Excuse me, I got a bit carried away there.
Also excuse the apparent sarcasm of my previous reply, I am indeed not one of those cunts who parks in disabled spaces. But then, I'm 15 and can't legally drive.
