Rubbish TownsI once went to Basildon. It was closed, I got chased by a bunch of knuckle-dragged yobs until I was lost in a maze of concrete alleyways and got food poisoning off pie. Tell us about the awful places you've visited or have your home.

Crap Towns I havelived in1. Bishops Waltham
Looks nice in the town centre but there are 60s/70s ticky-tacky houses all around it, full of small minded bigots and violent chavs. There is a stagnant, fly-ridden pond in the middle which they have tried to make into a "feature".
2. Luton (several people have mentioned already - it's infamous). Just a smelly stopover place on the way to London and the locals must have the least sexy accent in the world.
3. Cwmbran. A massive, soulless housing estate.
4. The Gurnos. As above but with awful poverty problems.

The trick to living in Lutonis to live only just inside Luton. I reside at the northern tip adjacent to pleasant countryside (disrupted only by the South Beds Golf Club), within easy reach (walk/bike) of proper pubs. I agree about the accent though - I am determined that my children should never acquire it.
