Whilst at collegeA woman I somewhat knew was telling me why she returned to college after her divorce. Apparently two women at the box factory (yes, seriously) where she worked were trying to figure out whether the world was more than 100 years old.
If I recall right, they figured it out by one recalling something her grandmother said about having her own grandmother.
The woman I somewhat knew told me that she knew she had to get out of there and fast, and college seemed the most likely way.

Well, I can only take the word of my acquaintanceBut yes, in the USA, we put our idiots to work on production lines where they can't hurt anyone.
In their defense, the women were from inner-city schools and there only learned how to survive. Scholarly activities weren't as important there.
