Graphics card with VIVO.A few years ago, I splurged on a new graphics card. At the time my budget for gfx cards had been about the £70 mark, which had got me various TNTs, Geforce 2s and so forth. This one was a Ti4600 which cost about £150.
I justified this with the extra functionality the VIVO feature would give me. Basically I could sample incoming video - obscure 4-mations stuff from way back that yet hasn't turned up on the net (unless 4od has it - haven't checked how deep their archives are); music videos (anyone remember Headfuck?) and pride and joy, some episodes of Vidz I have on VHS.
One of the things I hadn't thought through is that, unlike MP3 ripping, video has to be done in realtime. Meaning that I'd have to kick the machine off and then wait until the damn thing finished sampling. Of course, I hadn't the patience for that.
Net result, by the time I'd upgraded it to a 6600GT a couple of years later, the only thing I'd sampled was one seventy-minute live set by Orbital.
Still, it was great at playing the vidya at the time.

HmmMines worse, I spent £440 on a GTX295 a couple of years ago. It's a good bit of kit (really it is) , so good I bought another shortly after. Oh the shame!!

i think i remember headfucki think i remember headfuck. can't be sure. there are two things I think may have been a part of it.
1) a video of some bloke walking along a beach. he started off far in the distance, took a while for him to get close to the camera. then he picked up an ice cream that was on the beach. ate ice cream. ice cream had a hook in it, like a fishing line, but for humans. he got pulled into the sea
2) not sure about this one. the video was, i think, entitled "palindromo". a man walked to a bridge, then walked away from it. or that but backwards. i dont remember exactly, due to "circumstances".

I remember the first of it.Wasn't an ice cream, but a chocolate eclair. I believe it was either directed by Danny Boyle or had Ewan McGregor as the bloke - either way there was a Trainspotting link there. Don't seem to be able to find anything about it on t'internets though.
