# Spang....
And I am certain the whole world dodged a bullet, when McCain & ^her^ failed in their bid two years ago. The fact she seems likely going to have a crack at the tob job herself next election, fills me with dread.

# I trust in the majority of americans to wait five more years before that happens.
Unless trying to enact a weakened public option for healthcare is absolutely unforgivable.

# Yeah, but even allowing for the base idiocy of the US electorate
even *she* is unlikely to be able to succeed.

*feverently hopes this is true*

# I fear the worst.
Any republican standing against Obama is likely to be a shoo-in next election I reckon.

# She'll get spavined in the first rounds, I'd wager.
The Democrats will get their dirty tricks bods out in force.

But you make a strong case, sir.

# It didnt really work for the recent elections.
People were miffed enough by the many economic and employment problems and voted for the other guys.

# Mid-Terms, though....
'twas ever thus.
Edit: When Election time 'proper' rolls around, things will be a bit more closely fought, imho.

# Yeah that is true.
I suppose if her popularity can overcome personal attacks. Otherwise I'm fairly assured he could take her. She might want to bide her time though..

# soooo naive...
she'll WALK it if she stands

That's if she's not committed in the next years
*hopes*

# Nah, don't think so, guv.
There's only so much crazy that can get through the US system.
I reckon they draw the line somewhere between Ross Perot and Ronald Reagan

# Oh ^ this to the max.
The terrible thing is that people will be hacked off with Obama by the time the next election comes round and she might actually get the gig.

On the subject of which - news this morning was saying that the fact that some bloke didn't get found guilty of 200 counts of murder was a damning indictment of Obama's policy of trying them in civilian courts. Surely at some point we have to entertain the possibility that maybe... he wasn't guilty?

Better that than having him drummed through a military court and summarily executed IMHO. He still got 20 years after all...

So it doesn't count if he's innocent.

# I heard, and thought, the same.
"The courts have found him not guilty. But he must be guilty, otherwise we wouldn't have tried him. Therefore the courts have failed."

Eeek.
